So when you see a glowing fried egg, you need to take a pic, right? Miles looks like he is afraid of the egg! Monster egg!
After church, we did some wandering and found this cute park! It was peaceful and had the cutest shrine in the middle. We had an amazing Italian dinner and then headed back to home base. What a wonderful find!
Here is the cute little church I found for us to go to. We went to the English mass. It was very few people, mostly Filipinos who attended. Next week, we are going to full Japanese mass. It should be interesting!
You all know me and you know what happened here. Yes, you are right, I bought yarn! And some needles! Yeah! :)
When we saw this ferris wheel we knew we had to ride it! We never miss riding the ferris wheel at the state fair, so we needed to do this one! It was so nice! It was a slow 15 minute ride around and we saw a bird's eye veiw of Osaka. Not to mention get some great selfies! The view of Osaka bay was breathtaking! This was definitely a highlight of our trip!
Osaka Aquarium is the best aquarium I have ever been to! 8 floors of marine life! The highlight was the whale shark. He was in a massive aquarium with other sharks, rays, skates and fishes. He was huge but also graceful. The focus of the aquarium was the Ring of Fire, so we were able to see animals from the entire Pacific ocean. We saw a capybara, penguins, Pacific white sided dolphins, octopuses, turtles, anchovies and sardines (and not on a pizza - but actually swimming!), giant spider crabs and jelly fish. The jelly fish above had it's own luminescence! It was beautiful - I wish the picture could do it more justice... If you find yourself in Osaka, this is a must see!
We woke up on Saturday and decided to go to Osaka! So we did! Before we came to Japan, we got JR passes that are only available to foreigners and we can go anywhere in Japan on JR lines on a moment's notice. So, we took the Shikansen to Osaka. It was about a 3 hour trip. Before we went, we bought Tokyo Banana. This has been a big topic of conversation in my Japanese class, so naturally, I was curious... It basically is a twinkie with banana cream filling. Tasted ok, but since there is a severe lack of chocolate, probably won't buy it again.
Look at Molly. She has been here a week and already has the "bored" train look down. The other picture is the train we have been taking to get to other parts of Tokyo and beyond....
And it was delicious! This is the same chain as at home, but much much better. Not many egg dishes to be seen... Mostly hamburger steaks and beef. It was so yummy! Especially dessert. I don't think it lasted longer than 5 minutes!
We found a playground for the kids to play on and found this nice little river running behind it. This is the part of Japan Casey and I were longing to see. It is so nice to live in a neighborhood away from the touristy areas.
