We found a cute little Kaiten sushi (conveyor belt sushi) in Nakano. Pre-made sushi comes by on the conveyor belt or you can order and it comes out via shikansen (bullet train)! This is one of our favorites!
Saw these fishing ponds from the train. I wonder if the fish are as smart as the ones at the State Fair? There is a fishing pond every year at the State Fair and all the fish swim in the middle away from the hooks!
Our last day of the Theodas family visit, we went to Tokyo Disney Sea! So much fun! Spent all day riding rides and enjoying the scenery! We rode trains, boats, roller coasters and a car. We got to see most of the characters and meet them. The kid's favorite place was Mermaid Lagoon. It had a bunch of good "non-scary" rides for M&M. (They were fun for us, too!) We also rode the Toy Story ride that you got to play a shooter video game while riding. It was a really fun and tiring day! Molly got a birthday sticker, so she was wished Happy Birthday all day. It was really nice!
Molly turned 10 on the 10th and we went to her favorite restaurant. It's a tiny yakitori place just around the corner from our apartment. It is a small place with only 8 seats. So, we fill it up half way when we go! Yakitori is like a shish-ka-bob. Molly's favorite is the chicken and green onion. We had so many yummy foods on a stick! We had chicken, pork, bacon, asparagus, and (my personal favorite) avocado/plum/fish in a dish.
We had picked up a cake earlier and ate it at the apartment. It was chocolate sponge cake with vanilla cream frosting and chocolate shavings. Yum! All in all a great birthday for Molly! Molly had an excellent 10th birthday! We started out the day at Kidszania with the Theodas family. Kidszania is a place where there kids can go and "work". It is all kids size and they can pretend to have all sorts of jobs. Molly was a police officer, flight attendant, fire fighter, cheerleader, interior decorator, and rock climber. They make "money" at the jobs and then can go to the store and spend it. She bought the little cat clip above. There were about 90 jobs that the kids could pick from, several were in English on the day we went. I think we will try to go back before we leave. Miles wasn't feeling well, so he didn't go.
Our friends from Singapore came to visit us in Tokyo! We had a blast seeing them again and spent a wonderful 3 days together! Jacques & Laura and us met during our marriage preparation class back in Indy. Since then they have had to beautiful and wonderful girls, Valerie and Clarissa. The kids had so much fun playing together!
Found some swords at one of the shops we visited. Amazingly expensive! Each was about $50,000! Needless to say, we left them at the store....
We went back to Shinjuku to check out the Tokyo Metropolitan Building and it's fantastic views from the 45th floor! It has such a great view of how truly large the city is! We couldn't see Mt. Fuji, however. We found out the only time is during the winter on a clear day. Oh well... We will try again!
