Look at that yummy watermelon! Too bad is costs about $14.... Fruit is very expensive in Japan....
Molly and Miles really liked the playground that is about 10 minutes from our apartment. Nice and shady with lots of fun!
We went to Yokohama and spent the day at Cosmo world. It is a little amusement park with a huge shopping mall next door! We all had fun riding rides and the huge ferris wheel. If you look really hard, you can see Mt. Fuji between the office buildings on the first picture.
We visited Shibuya for lunch and got to experience the most crowded intersection in Japan! Also had an amazing yakiniku lunch. We got to grill our own lunch and it was yummy! This was a new experience for all of us.
Had a fun time in Harajuku, but the only people in costumes were not Japanese, but visitors. Typically, teenagers dress up in outrageous outfits and hang out in Harajuku. It is fun to see. We did visit a couple of interesting stores where you could buy a shiny corsets and feather headresses! You can't see it in the second photo, but there was a TV screen that was showing us while I was taking the picture.
We happened upon a Shawn the Sheep advertisement at a store, so of course I needed to go in! There was all sorts of cute things and we found out that there is a new Shawn the Sheep movie coming out in August. I got a pose able Shawn the Sheep and a bag. Comes out in July here... Looking forward to it!
We had a fun day at the Inokashira Park Zoo! We weren't sure about going initially, but it was a highlight of our trip! Check out the Japanese Crane at the top and the eggs! There was a guinea pig petting zoo (kids loved it! I have never seen so many guinea pigs in one place!), porcupines, foxes, deer and all sorts of interesting animals. There was a cute little coin operated ride area and a fun playground (with ultra cool teeter totter...). The kids really want to go back to the petting zoo....
There is a really nice park one train stop away (Kichijoji) called Inokashira Park. It is really big and has a cute Buddhist temple in the middle. Nice and peaceful!
This is the beautiful Sensoji Temple in Asakusa Tokyo. It was a bit and crowed, but a great experience! There was a service going on and it was fascinating to watch! The shaved ice at the end was totally yummy! (Pic to come...)
